Falcons sign TE Ross Dwelley plus 3 rookie minicamp tryout players. FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons signed tight end Ross Dwelley and three tryout players on Monday, the team announced. Dwelley comes to Atlanta from the San Francisco 49ers, where he joined as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He played in 84 of a possible 99 regular-season games during his six seasons, starting 17. His best year – 2020 – saw him total 245 yards receiving on 19 receptions, with one touchdown. Last year, he had 12 yards receiving on a single reception. Dwelley reunites with former 49ers teammate Charlie Woerner in the Falcons tight end room. Woerner signed a three-year, $12 million deal with the Falcons in March.Meanwhile, out of the 13 tryout players who attended the Falcons’ rookie minicamp last weekend, safety Dane Cruikshank, defensive lineman Bradlee Anae and wide receiver Dylan Drummond are the only ones so far to ink a deal out of that opportunity. All three have prior playing experience. Cruikshank has the most experience, with six years under his belt. He was a fifth-round draft pick by the Tennessee Titans in 2018. He stayed there for four seasons, went off to the Chicago Bears in 2022 but then returned to the Titans in 2023. Through his 54 career games so far, Cruikshank has made 66 tackles, two pass breakup and an interception. Last season, he appeared in just two games and did not record any statistics.Anae is also a former fifth-round draft pick who was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in 2020. He played in seven games as a rookie, only marking down a quarterback hit. In 2021, he played in four games and made two tackles. Anae has not seen live action since then.Drummond entered the NFL last year, appearing in one game for the Detroit Lions. The Falcons roster count should now be at 89 players, leaving one spot available before the training camp limit of 90 is hit. As a reminder, defensive end Kenny Oginni is not included in these numbers since he has been designated as the Falcons’ international player for the 2024 season.
